KEB is Best Place to learn 2024

Certification comes to Barntrup for the second time

KEB Automation has once again been awarded the title of “Best Place to learn”. With 1,158 out of a total of 1,337 possible points, the grade “very good” was given. The basis for this was a survey of 173 current and former trainees and trainers. The company from Barntrup in East Westphalia has already won the award in 2021.

In the size category of 501 to 1,000 employees, KEB is once again one of Germany's best apprenticeship companies – in addition to the company headquarters, a total of 1,500 people work in the KEB Group worldwide. The "Best Place to Learn" seal was awarded by the company Aubi-plus after the training situation at KEB had been recorded and evaluated on the basis of a total of 72 quality criteria. The re-certification is now valid for three years, which corresponds to the duration of a training cycle. Thomas Lalk, Head of Training, is delighted with the “Best Place to Learn” award: “The special aspect of the certification is that it is based directly on the experiences that our apprentices have at KEB. The result confirms us in our work, but also shows where we can further optimise and improve our training.”

A well-prepared start to training

The most recent optimisations include, for example, two familiarisation events during pre-boarding, which is the period between accepting the training offer and the first day of training at KEB. In April, for example, a TBV-Lemgo-Lippe handball match was attended. The event was joined by 63 current and future apprentices and students as well as the trainers. Furthermore, a get-to-know-you afternoon was organised together with the parents of the prospective apprentices/students and apprentices/students from higher years of training. The workwear supplier was also on site and was able to take the sizes of the future trainees and students so that they would have the necessary workwear in time for the start of their training. “With the pre-boarding events, we want to ensure that there is a sense of togetherness from day one. It helps a lot if you can get to know many faces at KEB in advance,” says Lalk.

KEB currently employs 64 apprentices and dual students, who are already benefiting from the mix of theory and practice. From August 2024, the number of apprentices will increase again when 35 more of tomorrow's specialists start their training at the “best place to learn” – as industrial mechanics, electronics technicians for devices and systems or industrial clerks.
