Expansion of KEB America completed
Warehouse space almost doubled
After nearly two years of construction, the time had come: The expansion of KEB America’s headquarter in Shakopee (Minnesota) was successfully completed. The expansion enables the company to meet the increasing demand for KEB products in North America. In numerous steps, the floor space was increased from the previous 80,000 to 150,000 square feet.
The extensive expansion of KEB America’s plant near Minneapolis began in August 2019, with the goal of increasing the production capacity and creating significantly more warehousing space.
After initial preparations, such as transplanting trees on the site, things moved quickly. From raising the walls and installing the HVAC system to setting up numerous storage racks and building a new parking lot on the site. Since the summer of this year, what was once a design for the new plant area has finally become a reality. KEB America has reported regularly and in detail on the individual construction progress on its website.
Expansion a logical step
”We have long observed a growing demand for our high-performance products and applications. The expansion of our plant was therefore a logical step. This enables us to offer our customers the best possible production and delivery conditions. In addition, as an employer, we are making a clear commitment to the Shakopee location with this expansion“, says Andy Delius, President of KEB America.
The previous building had been in existence since 2004, and the now completed expansion has nearly doubled the floor space. This provides sufficient space for the manufacturing of KEB’s mechanical and electrical drive and automation solutions. The entire North American market (USA, Canada, Mexico) will continue to be served from the expanded headquarters in Shakopee.
The next steps for the employees will be to set up the workstations, move work utensils into place and fill the newly created warehouse shelves.
”We are very pleased with the additional space we have gained. Many thanks to everyone who helped make the construction go smoothly and quickly,” says Delius.
